FAQs
This Expression Web / FrontPage 2003 template package comes with
the starter web site in .zip format. Unzip the package and start editing
the pages. You may wish to keep a backup copy of the .zip in case you need
to start over. We have included a basic site structure with common pages
to help you get started. You may rename the pages, add more pages, and add
your content.
Your template comes complete with all of the pages and images you see here. We also give you more details on the Getting Started page. Read through each page within this template for more information.
Can I change the template colors?
While you can modify some colors within the
included CSS file, many of the components within this template use a
graphic image to achieve gradient effects. We give you more details and
information on how to make changes via the CSS file on the
CSS Details page.
How do I add my site name?
The template uses the header.jpg image that has our sample text applied. We give you two "blank" versions designed for you to modify and add your own text. Editing either of these two images requires some type of image editing software such as Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, Fireworks, or similar.
- Header.png: This image file does not have any text applied. You can open this file in your favorite imaging program and add your own business/site name and a slogan or tag line using your favorite fonts in the colors of your choice. When you are happy with the image, go to File > Save As and save the image as header.jpg. Place this image into your web's images folder. This will overwrite our file with your new one.
- Header.psd: This is a layered Photoshop file. Many imaging programs will support this file type. The background is on one layer, the header image is on another layer, and the text is on its own layer. This format allows you to make more extensive changes to the top header image if necessary. Once your changes are made, save the image as a single layered header.jpg file and save it into the images folder of your web. Your new file will overwrite the one we use in the template.
About images...
Any images that you create outside of Expression Web should be saved in gif, jpeg or PNG format and imported into the images folder. If you create images within FrontPage from the Clip Gallery, save the page. In the dialog box, you may specify the folder where you want to save the images.
